ATTENTION SDSPS MEMBERS:

Announcing the USPS Annual Meeting to be held in Anaheim, CA from February
19 to February 21, 2009!

Here is your chance, without traveling across the country, to attend a USPS
National Meeting in your own backyard!

I hope you are seriously planning on being present at all, or at least part
of the USPS Annual Meeting in Anaheim next month. Some of you may have time
constraints. so that being understood, I'm summarizing events occurring each
day below. All day's events are informative, but in my opinion, the most
informative days will be Friday and Saturday, the 20th and 21st.

Remember, all USPS members are welcome to attend these events. Being less
than a two hour drive, a one day trip is do-able! And, since the main hotel
is probably booked by now, you could stay at a local hotel nearby and still
enjoy the meetings.

If you plan to attend on Thursday or Friday and you have never attended a
National Meeting before, sign-up as a '1st Timer' (at the Registration Desk)
and you'll get to meet the National Bridge members and have a chance to talk
one-on-one with them.

At EXPO on Friday, you'll have the opportunity to see all USPS committees in
one room! Each of the National committees will have a booth so you can see
what they do and chat with them. The Educational Department will have
booths for all the public and membership courses and you'll see the latest
materials and can talk to the people who write and revise your USPS course
materials. Here's a chance to ask that question you've always wanted to or
discuss something you didn't agree with in the course materials!

On Saturday, at the Annual and Governing Board Meetings, you'll really see
USPS in action. It is impressive to see and hear from dignitaries from the
US Coast Guard, US Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Canada Power and Sail Power
Squadron, California Department of Boating and Waterways, The Safe Boating
Federation and many more organizations that pertain to boating and boat
safety. You'll get to see the democratic process in action as USPS business
is conducted along with the election of the new National Officers and
Committee chairman and Governing Board Members.

I hope to see you there! I know from past experience that you will truly
find it an eye opening experience.
