Hello All~

Below is information from Marie Baer, our Boating Activities Chair, about
the upcoming raftup in La Playa Cove scheduled for 14-16 August. Those of
you who are even considering joining in should call the San Diego Port
Authority to register your vessel. (No obligation to attend, but the number
of permits are limited).

SDSPS Members,

The August Raftup is almost upon us. The details follow.

*Please inform me ASAP if you are considering going*. This group will
receive e-mails from me with further plans/ideas. If you plan to come by
land, let me know that as well to remain in the loop. Include your boat
information for the Harbor Police reservations. Commander Bombard is also
available to assist.

See you “On the Water”

SDSPS Raftup August 14, 15, and 16

*Initial preparation: Marie will call the Harbor Police at (619) 686-6227
30 days prior to the event to register your boat for La Playa Cove.*

*Arrive* on Friday, whatever time your schedule permits.

The first boat drops a bow anchor, the second a stern, and repeat until
done!

The area nearest the SWYC docks is preferred, between the club (what used to
be the front door) and La Playa.

*Depart* on Sunday afternoon, around 2:00. If you cannot stay, please do
not anchor in the middle of the raftup.

On *Friday* we will have a group *Attitude Adjustment*. The time to begin
will depend on what the group wants. Bring along a couple of hearty
appetizers to pass, along with your favorite adult beverage. This will be
in lieu of a dinner.

*Saturday* morning we will have a little education/exercise program. Paula
Vance will continue her *Yoga for Boaters* classes. For those that missed
the first class in June, no worries she’ll bring you up to speed.

This will be followed by a little breakfast and/or lunch on your own.

Later that afternoon, hop into your dinghy for a bay cruise. If someone
would like to set up a poker run or road rally kind of event, the job is
yours. Let’s just say 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. for now.

Upon return, *Attitudes will again be Adjusted *before going below to
prepare the evening feast.

*Potluck’s the Plan *for dinner. Please consider what you want to make, and
let me know. First responders get their choice, so there will be no
repeats. Remember vertical serving dishes are the way to go on a raftup for
space. Bring your own adult beverage. Dinner will be set out on one boat
(need a volunteer please) and you can fix your plate and sit around the
raftup any place you’d like.

After dinner, we can all gather in one spot for dessert, cocktails, and
conversation. If anyone has the game *SLAM* bring it along. It’d be great
fun to do as a group.

*Sunday *we can all gather for coffee/tea/mimosas and brunch kind of items –
pot luck style again.

Boats will peal from one end at a time. Should you need to leave early, be
sure to be on the outside and mention which end you’d prefer to have gone
first. Leaving with consideration for the boat in the middle is important
so they can get their anchor up as well.

Those guests coming from land need to be sure to make a contact with one of
the boats before the raftup begins for a cell phone number. There is
parking on Bessemer Street for your vehicles.
