Its time for the annual museum ships radio event this coming weekend.
The Battleship Museum USS NEW JERSEY is hosting the website
www.nj2bb.org/museum/ with additional information.
USS MIDWAY Museum/NI6IW will be one of over 70 museum ships worldwide
participating in this great event, which will also commemorate the
Battle of Midway in 1942 and the D-Day Invasion of Normandy in 1944.
Types of U. S. museum ships participating include four aircraft
carriers, six battleships, three cruisers, four Coast Guard Cutters,
three destroyers (GO TIN CAN SAILORS !!), one destroyer escort, twelve
submarines, one WWII landing craft LCI(L), one Liberty ship, two
landing ship tank, and the former FDR Presidential Yacht USS Potomac.
Although the radio weekend starts at 060001Z and runs thru 072359Z,
NI6IW (USS Midway) will be operating on Saturday from 1600Z to 0300Z
and on Sunday from 1600Z to 2359Z.
Operating modes and frequencies are:
SSB 14.320 and 7.250;
PSK-31 7.055;
and possibly CW 14.060, 7.055.
In addition, bonus operations for local area operators with antenna
and/or FCC license operating frequency restrictions will be conducted
on D-STAR and several local 2M/70CM repeaters.
