This passes through the SDSPS at several intersections, however, I know it's
not of universal interest.

------------

USS MIDWAY Museum Education Radio Station NI6IW will be participating
on-the-air using several amateur radio frequency bands during the Boy
Scout Overnight Event (approximately 700 participating Scouts) on
MIDWAY on Saturday 26 September. The objectives are to acquaint Scouts
with the technologies used by amateur radio operators and to offer
opportunities for Scouts to make contacts with other Scouts and amateur
radio operators. Each Scout group of approximately 100 will be at the
radio stations for approximately 15 minutes, so its important to
operate using crisp, short contacts in order to keep dialog moving.
Current and former Scouts should mention that fact.

The location of the NI6IW education radio stations will be the flight
deck of MIDWAY Museum in San Diego. Due to equipment and antenna
limitations, not all frequencies and modes may be on the air
simultaneously.

The hours of operation for NI6IW will be from 1930 to 2330 PDT
(0230Z-0620Z).

Operating frequencies (+/- on SSB & AM modes) will be:

Single Side Band (SSB) mode will be on 14.320 MHz and 7.250 MHz

Amplitude Modulation (AM) mode will be on 3870 MHz and 3985 MHZ ((AM
International (((AMI))) and West Coast Military Radio Collectors Group
(((MRCG))) nets will be active at 2000 PDT and 2100 PDT)).

Frequency Modulation (FM) 2 Meter (VHF) and 70 Centimeter (UHF) bands,
NI6IW will use several open amateur radio club radio voice repeaters in
SOCAL.

Please pass information about this event to amateur radio clubs,
individual amateur operators, and Boy Scout Councils, Districts, and
Troops in your area and encourage participation during the event. Hams
should invite Boy Scouts and leaders to their club or individual
stations so the Scouts may get on-the-air experience and consider ham
radio as a hobby.

Joe Garza (call sign AB6RM) at e-mail address jgarza at san.rr.com or cell
