Two reminders for curious SDSPS members:
SEAMANSHIP begins at 1900 on Tuesday, June 8th, at Southwestern Yacht Club. Taught by Ken Glaze and running through August 3rd, this course covers the basic knowledge every prudent skipper wants, even before leaving port - practical marlinspike, hull design and performance, boat care, skipper's responsibilities, boating under normal and adverse conditions, emergencies afloat, and more. You must complete this course before you can attain the grade of AP.
For the first time, we are opening the Seamanship classes to the public, so grab your family and dock neighbors and come to learn all the things you need to know (or once knew and forgot).
O.T. will be given on Sunday, June 6th begins at 1000 at Southwestern Yacht Club. USPS calls this informative seminar "Operations Training" but in District 28, we call it "Opportunities Training" because it lays out all the wonderful possibilities available to USPS members.
Taught by Katie Law, the course will be a day-long inter-active class, with lots of chances to ask questions and provide feed-back. It will also describe the changes made at the USPS Annual Meeting last February. If you haven't taken this course in the past four years, you will benefit from the review and update. NB: The Rock'n'Roll Marathon takes place on Sunday, so leave yourself plenty of time to get to SWYC. (Parts of North Harbor Drive will be blocked.)
